If your design involves intricate laser work, ozone fading, or delicate hand-finishes, Zhongshan is your destination.

Yulin (Guangxi): The Volume Powerhouse. Yulin is built for speed and scale. Labor and land costs are lower, so the factories here are enormous and optimized for huge production runs of more basic styles. If you need 500,000 pairs of a standard five-pocket jean for a major retailer, Yulin is an excellent choice.

Japan: Their holy ground is Okayama. Japanese mills are undisputed masters of creating selvedge denim on old shuttle looms. Their focus is on the raw material—the fabric is the hero. Italy: The Italian strength is in high fashion. Italian laundries are famous for pushing the boundaries of what's possible with chemical treatments and washes. They are pioneers of trends, but their production can be extremely expensive and aimed at the luxury runway market.
